Marthoma College Tiruvalla Library
From a modest beginning right from the inception of the college, the Library has grown in space and collection in the tune of more than 65000 documents . The library which was functioning at the first floor of the College was shifted to the Very Rev. V.P Mammen Memorial Hall in the beginning of the academic year 1959-60. The College library was graded as 1st grade library in 1970 by the state government. The library has now in addition to books and journals, a good collection of Microfische, CDROMs and Cassettes. A number of news magazines and dailies are also available for browsing. Bound Volumes of THE HINDU Newspaper from 1958 onwards , bound volumes of THE TIME, THE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC and other academic journals attract researchers & general public as well.The library is open to all members of the staff and students of the college and the users have direct access to the shelves in the stack room and reading hall. An online database of catalogue of books (OPAC), INTERNET and E -Mail services are made use of by students and staff of the college. The services of the library is automated using an integrated, window based, multi-user, menu driven library management software – LIBSOFT.

Library Rules and regulations
- The staff and students of the college are entitled to use the library.
- Students should scan their ID Cards at the gate before entering the Library
- The library will be open from 08.030 am to 4.30 pm on all days except Sundays and public holidays.
- Private books and personal belongings of students are to be kept at the entrance before entering the library. Valuables like purse, mobile phones etc. should be kept safely. The Library will not be responsible for any losses.
- Students are permitted to take into the library one and only one notebook or a few sheets of paper.
- Books taken out from shelves for reference may be left on the nearest table, and the classified arrangement of books on the shelves should not be disturbed.
- Students should submit an application form in the prescribed form supplied from the Library for issue of library cards to them.
- UG students are issued a maximum of 3 library cards and PG students are issued a maximum of 5 cards according to their choice. Books will be lend only on the exchange of these cards.

- UG Students-2 books at a time
- Post Graduate Students-3 books at a time.
- Teaching Staff-10 books at a time
- Administrative Staff-4 books at a time
- Books will be issued for a period of 14 days. But the period may be shortened at any time. The librarian may call back any book at any time from a reader, even if the period of loan has not expired, in special circumstances.
- Delay in returning the book after the due date will entail a fine of One Rupee (per day) for each volume.
- Sub-lending of books is strictly prohibited.
- Books in the REFERENCE section, Journals, and Magazines will not in any case be issued.
- Members of the Staff may take books after making necessary entries and signing in the issue register.
- Before leaving the counter the borrowers shall examine the books taken by them and point out to the librarian any damage or mutilation or defect of books and the librarian will make necessary entries in the book and put his initials. The borrowers will be held responsible for any damage or mutilation observed at the time of return. Marking on the books, folding of pages, etc. shall be viewed as a serious offense.
- If a book is damaged or lost by the borrower, it will have to be replaced or paid three times the cost of the book.
- Magazines and Newspapers should be replaced in their respective places after reading.
- All final-year students have to return the Library books and their issue cards before the commencement of their final year or final semester exams.
